On July 21, 2023, at the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, the Chair of the Asia Future Association Nguyen Thuy and board member Rui Takahashi met and held discussions with Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu. This meeting took place on the day following Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu’s official appointment as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan.
Chair Nguyen of AFA introduced Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu to the organization’s key activities and reported on plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Professor Rui Takahashi, who serves as the Head of the Department of Economics at Tokai University and also as a director of AFA, emphasized AFA’s commitment to supporting students and reinforcing academic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu recommended the AFA continue joint academic and cultural development between universities within Vietnam and abroad. He expressed the belief that AFA’s future activities would undoubtedly contribute to building a strong foundation for Japan and Vietnam’s partnership. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu also expressed his support for AFA and through organizations such as AFA, Ambassador Pham wishes for a further enhanced relationship between the two countries.
Chair Nguyen of AFA expressed deep respect for Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu’s efforts in advancing Japan-Vietnam relations to a new stage and extended best wishes for a successful term in office.
